Amy Carlson

Amy Carlson was raised in Glen Ellyn (Illinois) and spent the majority of her childhood living in Chicago. Amy lived in Glen Ellyn Illinois, right up to the time she graduated from junior college. The family also lived in Middle East, where her parents, Bob (and Barb) taught at the American School. Amy is the mother of two sisters: Betsy and Lori, as well as a brother Joe. Amy has traveled all over Europe with her family and independently. Both of them were teachers and were able to travel and camp together every summer due to this. In reality, they've camped in every state except Alaska. Amy has also traveled to Rwanda after the war in 1994 to help in relief efforts. Amy was a skilled actor in school plays , and she won writing contests. In high school she was a promising athlete who placed in the first ever 3200 meter relay in Illinois girls track. Following an injury, she was able to return to theater , and played a variety roles, including Lanford Wilson's "Fifth of July" and Wallace Shawn's directorial "Aunt Dan and Lemon". Amy has graduated from Knox College in Galesburg (Illinois) in the year of cum laude, with an A.A. in East Asian history and a concentration in Theater. After graduation, she moved to Chicago where she pursued studies in Improv at The Improv Olympics and Acting at The Actor's Center. Shortly after graduation, she was offered a permanent for the no-longer-running soap drama Another World (1964). She was nominated for the "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Daytime Drama Series" category for the Daytime Emmy Award. Her most memorable roles were those played by women who are strong, such as Alex Taylor in Third Watch (1999), Maggie Pistone ((2000)), Katie Owen and Tom Berenger in Peacemakers(2003) and Linda Reagan in Blue Bloods(2003). Carlson lives in New York City together with Syd Butler (bassist of Les Savy Fav), and is part-owner of Frenchkiss Records. Amy is still working on film and writing.
